Warrior Women III
My work emanates from a deep and profound passion for fabric and textiles. It is about details, layers, texture, complexity and my interpretation of a time-honored traditional process. Connection and disconnection within relationships also inspires me and I am attracted to beauty, glamour, oddities and humor.
Being a lover of repurposed fabric, I primarily use discarded upholstery fabric and leather samples in my work that are assembled using multi layers that are pieced, sewn, quilted, and then appliquéd. I do not agree with the “less is more” concept.
Warrior Women III is the third in a series of art quilts that depict powerful women who are glamorous in appearance & confident in attitude. I come from a long line of tough women who have experienced personal suffering and find that images of feminine power and strength are present in most of my work.
