Where I Live

In this piece I wanted to capture San Francisco’s sea of buildings. The glow of the city is what attracts me and makes me gravitate toward painting this subject matter. The views are so breathtaking and I strive to encapsulate a piece of that beauty.
Each painting is made 100% with a palette knife. I start by building up the texture with different vibrant colors of acrylic. I follow that by painting the cityscape in oil, making sure to scrape it on so that some colors of acrylic will still show though. I’m attracted to the depth and dimension the texture creates. I also feel that the texture creates a sense of rawness that can be used to describe the many buildings of San Francisco.
