On the Beach
Whenever I get stuck on a painting, I remember my motivation and my solution: somewhere in every picture there must be light. In “On the Beach”, that white light can be found reflected against the red waves. Like a cool dip in the ocean in the sweltering heat of summer, cool green shadows turn to gold and red zones.
People wander across the wet sand, reflected in the smeared water. Streaks of paint establish the horizontal ground while drips mirror the vertical fall of rain.
