The Water’s Edge

I have always been drawn to the transitional state in water between transparency and opacity. I find it fascinating that the substance can alternate between being a window into a new and unexplored world, or a rippling mirror reflecting elements on land.
In order to capture the abstract shapes in the reflection, I used a variety of brushes and painting knives. This ultimately gave the piece a golden pattern reminiscent of a Gustav Klimt painting. I titled it “Caligraphy” because these marks verge on the forms of letters and man made symbols.
