My early childhood was spent in the Arizona desert, where I was fascinated by the vast landscape and the intense colors of sunrise and sunset. My appreciation of form and color has never waned since.
I found my first SLR camera in the mud of a road on a base camp in Viet-Nam. I soon developed an interest in how a scene changes as the light does, and how a photo can capture an ephemeral moment forever. My interest remained a “hobby” while I earned a BA in Theater Arts, worked on an MA in Screenwriting, had a short career producing educational films, and returned to school to earn a JD and become a lawyer.
My photos are mostly about finding beauty and mystery in the everyday world and encouraging others to do the same. There’s no message; they’re simple exercises in color or black-and-white, composition, point of view, and the not-so-simple act of seeing.
Although I’ve been a dishwasher, a gas jockey, a janitor, a truck driver, a filmmaker and a lawyer to earn a living, my heart has always been in expressing myself through photography and writing poetry, screen and stage plays, even science fiction. Nothing life has to offer is more rewarding than creating something unique.
