Jennifer Hirshfield, “Raspberry Sea”, Acrylic on Canvas, 60” x 48” x 1.5”
My current work is based on my infatuation with water: sea, ocean, stream, river and more. We become water and the water becomes us. My subject matter derives from my need to connect with nature, which I believe to be a universal human need. I paint with an intentional and active mindfulness to allow the past and future to slip away. The energy applied in the painting process is meant to mirror the energy of the painting’s subject – the energy of the sea, the energy of the stream.
“Raspberry Sea” is also a very sensual work, representing the feel at the end of a sea-filled day. In this piece the light aqua is used to focus the painting.
