Into Sea Light
Jennifer Hirshfield, ”Into Sea Light”, Acrylic on Canvas, 60” x 48” x 1.5”
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area – spending most of my weekends in Santa Cruz where my Grandmother lived. I was either fishing, body-surfing, playing in tide pools or laying in the sand. As an adult, I continue to visit the ocean weekly, but for different reasons. Now I revel in looking outward into the horizon with no obstructions. The spaciousness outside me is replicated inside me. “Into Sea Light” is a manifestation of this spacious feeling.
In this painting I worked with primary colors to represent a more childlike connection with water. I use the red to bring a focus to the space.
