The Water’s Edge
Call for Entries Accepted Artists
I am a self-taught artist. As a child, I loved stealing veggies from the neighbors and painting. I put on my little navy beret and matching smock and lost time painting and dreaming. I loved experimenting with paints, paper, and natural objects like pinecones and leaves. My mother crushed my artist spirit when she told me, at age 5, that I’d never make a living that way, so I stopped.
Decades later, I let go of the past and got inspired by a group at my church, Agape, led by one of my mentors Rassouli. I started attending painting retreats. The method: paint with spirit. Let the images emerge. This is how Swimming came to life. I see goldfish. I see a mermaid and other swimmers in the ocean. What do you see?
