Call for Entries Accepted Artists
Artist Natan Pernick
This portrait is part of a series of anonymous painted portraits, which involved shooting pedestrians on the street and then painting selected photos. In my selections I attempted to achieve a delicate balance between stereotype and uniqueness, such that a subject might look familiar and yet remain an enigma.
The painted man was walking back and forth in the street and seemed to be restless. He looked like a laborer and his deep expression led me to assume that he had grave thoughts even while performing simple tasks. That type of contradiction along with his strong presence inspired me to paint his portrait.
