Lilburn:50″ x 50″Wood, Acrylic Paint, Acrylic SheetBased on Lilburn Cave, Sequoia National Park (Cross Section / Overhead view) Not For Sale
As I walked through the caves of Sequoia National Park, I was stunned by the beauty hidden in the darkness for eons. Some brave explorer entered this abyss, overcame the dangers, and allowed me to see something I will never forget.
Why? What possesses a person to enter a cave, climb a mountain, dive deep into the ocean, or shoot into the unknown vacuum of space?
As you stare into the reflective blackness of “Lilburn”, the answer becomes clear. It is the validation and exploration of the human spirit, our very existence, beyond this mortal coil. Most will never conquer Everest, float upon the Mariana Trench, or rocket into the void of space… But through art, the human spirit can also be explored. BC10/10/2012
