Artist Aishwarya Bavle
I love glass as a medium because it is versatile and malleable to my needs. It is very interactive both with the artist and the viewer. It is perfectly inert underneath my paints, but it has a life of its own in areas untouched by my brush.
I finished my Bachelors in Architecture in India in 2010. My training as an architect has helped me evolve as a painter in the use of space and perspectives. I now love playing with geometry and angles in my paintings. While my style of painting is very contemporary, my inspirations are often drawn from past traditions, nostalgia and memories from my childhood in India.
Here the subtle architectural composition reflects where this dark haired beauty “Laila” comes from. Using the concepts of gestalt and surrealism, both the lady and geometry are blended together in an abstract form letting the viewers give her their own interpretation. The painting is composed of 2 parts. In the spirit of gestalt, the sum is greater than the parts.
