A bright sunbeam peaked through the window, radiating warmth into the cold morning sky of Los Angeles. I sat alone on the floor of my little studio, staring at my blank canvas. I had been in an inspirational drought for a couple of months. As always, my old tuxedo cat walked in, and quietly joined my absence. We sat and stared together into the emptiness.
Then I heard it — the gentle sound of raindrops tapping my window. First they fell faintly, and then louder and with a clear and percussive rhythm. The rainfall was pounding the studio window, and yet they softly dripped down the glass. Also to my surprise, the sunlight still beamed through the window, and filled the room with warm light. I thought,
