Call for Artists
Artist Guy Stroup
Long Beach, California,
I’m a native Californian born in 1952. I’ve worked with two and three dimensional art forms for over forty years. Trained at El Camino College, Pasadena City College, Art Center College of Design and the University of California Santa Barbara. My proudest educational achievement has to be my Honorary Degree from the school of Hard Knocks.
I began as a sign maker, designing and sculpting hand carved redwood signs with airbrush illustrations. Sign making evolved into back drops and then props for the film industry. I worked as a freelance illustrator for a time but a life changing illness ended my commercial art career in 1994. Since that time the creation of Fine Art has been my single goal.
Gothic Splendor is from my Kaleidoscopic series. The original capture were the limbs of a tree photographed at the El Dorado Nature Park in Long Beach, California.
The technique used required cropping, twisting, turning and splicing of a single image numerous times. To ensure its perfect symmetry, the elements of the piece are divided down to a single pixel. The patterns created by this method are unique unto themselves as is a snow flake.
