At the age of 13, I realized how much I enjoyed painting. I joined my father in his studio to absorb everything I could about painting, and I loved it. The experience of having my first exhibition at age 19 encouraged me to pursue my dream of becoming a professional artist. Since then I have exhibited my paintings in Middle-east, Washington DC area and Chicago.
I learned so much while working on my bachelor’s degree in fine art that I decided to start teaching, so I could encourage people to bring out the talent they have within them. Currently, I’m working on my thesis project to earn my MFA from Academy of Art San Francisco.
If I were to describe the nature of my work, three adjectives would come to mind – reflective, calming and moving. My art controls my emotion by leading the strikes of brush onto the canvas. I am most relaxed and energized when painting as my thinking gets guided by it bringing the learning of the past and creation of the future.
This work, “Dream” is a combination of expressive style in powerful brush-strokes on a blue color background, and an analytical approach to form and composition with pronounced surface effects. The smooth enigmatic bluish background and the musical pattern surface suggest my expression of passing the reality through dream.
