One Way Mirror (April 2013)
The accessibility of communication through massive social networking sites like Facebook makes it too easy to pretend to care about others, losing touch with oneself. While skimming through one’s News Feed, one can easily and casually say hello to a friend, acquaintance, or ex-enemy, without intentions of following through with a true and genuine conversation or friendship.
Social networking sites allows our generation, and others who wish to participate, to exist in a superficial world of selfshness, casual happy birthday wishes, and a forced reality. Being able to hide behind a facade, Facebook can allow you to create an image of yourself that may not be true to heart in order to impress others who peer into your personal life.
I ask for our generation to reflect on the way they present themselves, reflect on their truths. This one way mirror allows me to peer back into this specific moment in time, who I was as a person, and who I have become since then.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
If you are interested in art collecting and would like to purchase this beautiful art, give our art galleries a call. Our art gallery is a wonderful place for art collectors.
Our owner and curator is portrait photographer Linnea Lenkus who has a passion for high quality art. This is why she has art galleries Southern California.
