Stillness and Motion are two main elements in my paintings. They are the forms of existence of all things in the universe and not only extreme contrast but also harmonious balance. I would like to express these feelings and thoughts to people through my compositions, brush strokes and colors…
When I was kid, I usually spent times in the museum looking for works of old masters. I deeply feel that the environment has great impact upon shaping my learning attitude. When I entered Vocational High School majoring in Art & Craft for three years of extensive studies, I have grasped the real spirit in artistic expression in sketching, water color, and oil painting.
I enter University with major in oil painting in 1988. Four years in college, I have been nourished under an atmosphere of euphoria with well versed, trained and talented professors. Meanwhile, I have come across of Rembrandt, Vermeer and Sargent of whom I am most appreciative. A striking expression that has indirectly affected my work in seeking freedom of expression and varieties.
After many years of teaching and painting, I strongly feel that in the process of seeking self-elevation one would have to go through stage of variation in the hope that by ”using the simplest technique to reveal deepest thought”. Ex, Chinese classical painting which has metamorphosed with the idea of imagination, stressing upon what you saw is not what the true essence of the real world.
