“Waiting “is from the series of quilted underwear. These works of art deal with combining male friends’ old worn underwear with pattern fabrics. The quilting fabrics patterns can be from anything from feminine, humorous, masculine, or innocent.
A man’s underwear can say a lot about him, his identity, and his personality. Yet these garments that men wear are intimate and only seen by people close to them. Underwear can hint at his sexuality, how important comfort is to fashion, tradition, shyness, sense of humor, etc. Underwear can affect how a guy feels when wearing it, whether it is confidence, sexy, or manly.
“Waiting “ is depicting a friend lying in a somewhat sexually pose with his legs opened to the viewer. The quilting fabric adds a playfulness innocent to his erotic pose. I initially drew the male figure in the same part of underwear as the one’s quilted behind the drawing to narrate the relationship between the guy and his underwear.
