Graphite and Ink
Part horror film, part pinup fantasy, my drawings strive to bring together the grotesque and the erotic in a nightmarish embrace. I juxtapose the allure of the naked female body with ambiguous spaces of horror, where bodies are dismembered, fractured, and consumed. Through my own personal research, I have found that the unknown can terrify viewers and at the same time also turn them on.
Through the ambiguity of the figuration in my work, I attempt to draw out these feelings of sexual desire and arousal alongside shock and guilt. The resulting confusion might then allow the viewer to question his or her sexual attractions and to briefly escape the repercussions that threaten our sexual fantasies.
