THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT
I have known from the age of seven that I would be an artist. My parents saw my talent and started me in private art classes in the second grade. I live in the mid west with my husband and four children. We love the fresh air and the great outdoors. Plus we are not far from the excitement of the big city. I really have the inspiration of both worlds…country and city.
My art education background is in fine arts and graphic design from John Herron School of Art and Ivy Tech inIndianapolis. After art school I worked for the next 10 years as an Art Director in Advertising Agencies. Thenstarted my own Design Studio that I own and operate to this day.
“The Forbidden Fruit” Started out as a drawing of mother and child. Then I started playing with it digitally and it turned into a female body! Then I thought of child birth as a fruit of my labor as a mom.So I added a peach for the breast representing breast feeding…nourishment for our babies. There was a TV program on “Teen’s having Babies” as I was working on this painting. I thought where have I gone wrong as a parent. I must teach my sons and daughter to respect their bodies and not to just give themselves away.
So at that moment this painting became a social statement for Young Women & Men: Its a call to young women and all ages to love, respect and protect the special gift of their beautiful bodies. Not to just give themselves awayin a one night stand, in a moment of passion. Its also an awareness for men to stop and think before acting on their own desires and to respect themselves and their girlfriend or date. Its also a call for husbands to love your wives and stay away from the forbidden fruit! Disrespect is like tasting bitter fruit.Thank you for taking the time to read about and view “The Forbidden Fruit”You can look but no touchee!Linda Iorio
