I grew up in Bronx, NY, very humble beginnings with an endless imagination and the heart and mind for anything mystical and dreamy. Back then, you could always find me somewhere sitting quietly sketching women with goddess-like garb creating a wardrobe on paper, that as a young girl in the Bronx, I would likely never see. I had passing thoughts of being a fashion designer.
The images of my childhood sketches lay dormant for many years until 2003 when I started sketching and took on oil painting, mostly at the prompting of my sister who handed me a canvas and paint and insisted I explore my talents as a self-taught fine artist. So I have her to thank for that simple and loving gesture. Still searching for what it was that I was to be doing with this creative energy, I tried acrylics around 2004 and came across the Fusionart technique of fusing of the opposites. Creating from a space of no thought…painting to music and really letting go, that is the Fusionart way of creation.
Looking at my creations, it seems that those early images have found their way into my art many years later. Never linear, always dreamy and as far from reality as possible is what I aspire to capture on canvas. “Synchronicity” evolved while residing near Sedona, AZ just after leaving the corporate world where I worked in law for many years. Synchronicity may very well be a self-portrait of how “free” I felt. The images and colors poured onto the canvas, an intuitive work, almost as if I had painted it in another time and dimension. Some paintings are just like that, others I put away and go back to them. Synchronicity called to me, so I worked on it until the final brushstroke flowed in all of its magnificence. And magnificent it is, to let go!!
Admirers of my art have said that I paint from a remote place or dimension the story I am telling on canvas is what I see and feel in this “other” place of being. What I can tell you is that painting brings me a peace like nothing else I do. It is my desire to share this peace with the world. I do hope Synchronicity will remind you that anything is possible, that is, if you are just willing to let go!
