Raspberry Close Up
My art reflects my abiding optimism and faith in the order of our world. My process consists of working shapes and colors towards an expressive whole that will have the power to evoke emotion, sensuality, and spirituality.
In my “Close-Ups” series of artworks, I seek new perspectives on familiar objects by depicting them at a range in which they are seldom viewed. Each tightly composed image shows some physical object in a conventional three-dimensional geometry, but at a proximity in which its exact identity might not be obvious. The precise nature of an object declines in importance as it dissolved into its more generic atomic components. The interaction among the parts of a whole gains in importance. The distinction between the representational and the abstract loses consequence. The artistic experience becomes one of sensuous texture, line, color, and detail.
