Both Sides of Now
I arrived to painting with the background inpoetry and film. The medium of painting matched my sense of energy and expression. In an effort to produce original and spontaneous work, I made the conscious decision to refrain from formal art training and from studying other artists’ work. I escape point of view by focusing on process and experimentation instead of plotting a final product.
I painted Both Sides of Now without being conscious of what was emerging. I let the painting impose itself on me instead of letting my thoughts impose on the painting. I was able to let this happen by eliminating myself from the painting. This painting acts as mirror. The motif is a reflection of the viewer who stands in front of it.
