Call for Artists Accepted Entries

Today, more often than not, we view paintings on a computer screen, rather than in person. It is often the case that the digital image lacks the awe-inspiring finesse that oozes from a beautiful painting that you are standing in front of. However, this digitalization of the art world is inescapable and is, in fact, an amazing resource that I am thoroughly grateful for and use every day.
To evolve, we must combine and find harmony between the old and the new. My painting, Thumbnail #1, represents the duality of old/new and how they are colliding in modern society. To create the painting, I asked friends to send me images of thumbnails of renaissance era paintings. When this image is made larger, it is an extremely pixilated version of the original and is unrecognizable.
Using both the small and large versions of the image, I then create the new abstract environment and the shapes that occupy it.
