Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, I am a Canadian artist currently living in Paris, France. I have studied painting and sculpture, printmaking and paper making in both Parsons The New School for Design in New York and l’Ecole de Parsons à Paris in Paris.
Ghost is a cyanotype of a decorated fire escape from my (Dis)Orientation Series created in 2012. A cyanotype is a nineteenth century photogram technique that predates the invention of a lens. In other words, it is a camera-less photograph.
These pieces focus on Nostalgia and the haunting linger of ephemerality . Memories and experiences, journeys and discoveries, of captured shadows and freed reality. Streets walked and cities travelled-whole areas mapped and then forgotten, rooftop escapes and momentary silence, dancing whispers taste the wind. It is in the presence of absence that whole worlds are formed.
