I love color, and it is apparent, obvious, evident and unmistakable in the work I create. I used to fear color, like a tiny infant that has been handed to you, and you’re just not quite sure what you are suppose to do with it. But it is simple, you just relax and enjoy it, let it do what it does, support it, nestle it, and love it.
I am inspired by what nature shows me, whether on a run and passing some succulents, or in my garden tending to new buds and the fruits of my labor. There are so many beautiful combinations that nature makes, and I use it as a tool in the creation of my work.
As a contradiction to nature, cityscapes and man made geometric structures inspire me. There is so much tension between nature and the city, but I find the beauty of compromise and harmony between them. I’m also exploring the idea of a world of only steel and concrete, and adding strong, stunning color as compensation for the loss of nature.
