I started to paint and make pottery in the late 70s. My interest and enjoyment of the arts caused me to chose an education in art. For many years thereafter was watercolor paint my pictorial expression. I was co-owner of an art shop and exhibited in many parts of Jutland. In the 90s I began working with acrylic paint and 4 years ago I found my “style” and has since worked with acrylic painting. I work with both the big gestures and fine expression. I love the colors and the abstract expression. My intension is, that the viewer imposes a decision.
My processI start my pictures from a mood. The mood determines my first color choice. In this first phase, there is no plan for the subject and the structure of the image.I paint on top of colors in many layers. at the beginning of the process is all very spontaneous, but as I come forward in the process, I am more conscious of color, shape and depth. Often the images changes in a way which was not expected. In this way it creates a new expression, but still with leftovers from the previous expression, I am challenged to give the image depth and life. In this process I will always ensure a degree of harmony in the picture and it is always a challenge. I want that my images both leaves room for imagination and interpretation, but also have a harmony and balance. Images must express life’s many facets and challenges and its joys and opportunities.
