Fine Art Photography
I am a self-taught photographer who seeks to find the abstract within the world we live in. My subjects of interest incorporate the interplay of form, color, and geometry. Many times the most dramatic abstractions can be found in objects that are often overlooked by human vision; e.g., the surfaces of natural stone and rock, the intricate colors and lines of flower petals, or the geometric patterns formed by sea shells.
The techniques of macro photography are heavily utilized in my work in order to uncover the abstract features within nature. I typically do a minimal amount of post-processing in the digital darkroom. My resulting prints are not overly large since I wish to draw the viewer into an intimate experience with the subject at hand.
Desert Dwellings is an example of my exploration of abstract Rockscapes. It is a simple garden rock whose weathered surface exhibits a landscape unto itself. This “found abstract” is reminiscent of Australian aboriginal dot art.
