Abstraction is a departure from reality and is my tool to depict emotions rather than objects. Abstract Expressionism allows the artist to show his or her personality through spontaneity, and many works are a study in color rather than a portrayal of an object. Like abstract expressionists, I rebel against traditional art and criticize rationalism, revealing my feelings and depicting my subconscious.
With my abstractions, I have created my own personal language, with color as a key tool. I choose color and shape deliberately, and I use my art to communicate. Using rich, intertwined colors reflected from flowing water, I make visible what is invisible to the eye, going beyond the surface to reveal the essence of my emotions. My work depicts the fleeting quality of life, freezing precious and irretrievable moments.
Water is a powerful force – both frightening and mesmerizing. It is unrestrained and always fluctuating, and it has consistently lured and impressed me. Water, in many ways, mirrors life, a fluid presentation of our world and of our existence. My work surrounds this persistent flow of time that drives and shapes life.
