7 Deadly Sins
Call for Entries Accepted Artists
I personally do not believe in the idea of sin, but I have approached this painting from the point of view of someone who does. My intent was to show a scene from purgatory where the guilty soul is confronted with archetypes of its sin. The title of the work, “Saligia,” is a mnemonic word in Latin for the seven deadly sins. In this painting a dead monk finds himself in a Christian nether world. He pitifully tries to shield his eyes from the scenes around him.
