Silent Communication Artist Portraits
As one of the selected artists for the show, Doug Lawler, presented beautiful pieces done by dry point printmaking and painted with his fingers. Through his methods, Lawler accomplishes renditions enhanced by bursts of color and attention to detail. The incredible artwork, Storm with Dog implies the chaotic movement of a storm while a dog attempts to stay grounded and safe. Painting this piece with his fingers, only enhances how incredible the intensity of color and depth.

“The ongoing theme of my work is “connections”, from beasts and their shadows to nature and it’s passionate beauty. In my detailed depictions, I strive to capture the pulse of people, animals and ideas at a moment in time.”

“I always look terrible in photos. Linnea was the first photographer to point out why, and fix it. She makes a person feel relaxed and open and the images that result are great. She’s an extraordinary professional!”
-Doug Lawler

For our recent art show “Silent Communication”, Linnea Lenkus, curator at Linus Galleries and fine art photographer, has once again selected a few participating artists to be part of her Artist Portrait Series. Lenkus is involved from the initial ideas of an exhibit at our contemporary art gallery to the final moments when the art leaves. Her dedication is shown in the difficult process of selecting artists who will participate in a show at our Pasadena art gallery. Her two portrait studio locations, in Long Beach and Pasadena, allow her to also focus on her photography.
