Artist Portrait Series | Silvia Wagensberg

Art Show Silent Communication Artist Portraits

For our curator at Linus Galleries, Linnea Lenkus, it is beneficial to create a comfortable relationship with artist participants of our art shows. As a fine art photographer, this was truly a plus for her in order to get artists to be themselves in front of the camera. As part of her Artist Portrait Series, Lenkus selected artists who participated in our most recent live art show, “Silent Communication”. Other than Linus Galleries, Lenkus has two portrait studios where she specializes in capturing moments throughout all stages of life.

Artist Silvia Wagensberg understood the purpose of Lenkus’ Artist Portrait Series, being that she also focuses on portraits. At our contemporary art gallery’s most recent art show, three of Wagensberg’s portraits were presented among the diverse collection of artwork. Wagensberg’s acrylic painting, Margarita, portrays the powerful image of a great-grandmother exposing the numbers that once served as an identification, but now are a physical and emotional scar revealing a profound history. As she sits, quietly pondering, the whirling colors that constitute her figure emphasize a visually-balanced composition.

A Catalan artist from Barcelona, Silvia Wagensberg presently resides in Venice, California. Portraits on vinyl are her way of approaching and communicating with people. She is now mapping communities that relate to her daily life through the medium of her artwork. As her interests are both individuals and crowds, she explores the relation between them in order to comprehend the human condition and social evolution.

Her experience with Linus Gallery has been great. She appreciates the atmosphere and the art represented there. It was easy for her to communicate with Linnea and, for once, to change positions and be the subject for a fellow portrait artist. “It’s only fair”, she says.
