Long Beach singer-songwriter Alyssandra Nighswonger, will have a live musical performance at our upcoming opening reception for the “Silent Communication” art show, so it only seems appropriate to get to know her a little better. Hailing from the beautiful beach city, Nighswonger’s musical style has been described as a fusion of Bjork’s eccentric style, the Violent Femme’s in-your-face attitude, and Billie Holiday’s rich soothing vocals.
In her most recent project, Nighswonger was part of The Dovelles, winners of Long Beach’s 2012 BuskerFest. They released an album and also toured across the country. The Dovelles were featured on Marfa Public Radio and Daytrotter. In April 2012, before The Dovelles, Nighswonger released a solo album entitled When my Love Knot Slips. This launched a 1450-mile music tour, from Seattle, WA to Long beach, CA…on bicycle! Within her ongoing career span, other prior projects include Lucky Penny, a collaboration of four Long Beach songwriters, and Alyssandra and the Daymakers, a harmonious group of musicians interpreting stories through song.
Listen to Nighswonger’s melodic vocals for yourself here.
We are excited to have this incredible musical artist be a part of an eventful night at our Pasadena art gallery. The opening reception for “Silent Communication” will be on October 4th from 5:30- 9:00 pm. Don’t miss out!
