Artist Statement
”Inside us live an angel and a devil” is a series of black and white photos and the idea behind these photographs is to explore the part ofr us that are in darkness contrasting the ones in light. All of us have dark and light elements in our psyche in our character. And more often than not these elements are in ”battle” as to which will dominate during certain situations. Is up to us which part of us will have the upper hand. But remember, that this contrast is necessary for the existence of each element. There will not be light without dark or white without being there black.
These photographs were taken in the studio with an old style medium format camera as part of a college project. This project was a personal one and not an assignment. I liked the idea of the concept behind it but not only that. The image in itself is important. The light and dark contrast and the accentuated silhouettes all create a powerful image
