Artist Statement
#couple is story about me and my wife. I would like to tell story of ours couple life from 12 years ago from boyfriend – girlfriend status until ours married status through the word and photography which my art allowed me to express myself and communicate my story with audience through my photographs and words – words which often time are mistake. I advocate that mistake are neither right or wrong- it just simply an experience or momentary decisions where one can often find beauty.
A #hashtag is a type of label or metadata tag used on social network and microblogging services which makes it easier for users to find messages with a specific theme or content. Since #hashtag become to involved in ours daily life on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, We posted ours photos with #hashtag most of every time to make statement of population of LIKE, FOLLWER and FAMOUS but we forget how beautiful of photograph. I called this project “#hashtag overused”. My works is experiment to audience with #hashtag all over photograph by typewriter to tell story as expression, moments, persons, place, felling, emotion, what is artist think and Etc. What I want to see is today, Are we really needs those #hashtag information to tell what is satisfies of wonder and doubt?
I named this project “#hashtag overused”. In this collection of work I am focusing on the manipulation of prints as my main medium, especially its effects on the social media culture. I manipulated these photograph by typing over these prints using a typewriter because I want to make texture, soft and hard in word and character and to retain a sense of permanencies – unlike computer graphics- mistakes cannot be deleted nor manipulated, thus it must be intergrated into the work. This particular statement is parallel to life’s choices and experiences where edits are impossible and must be taken as is.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
