My work is at the intersection of three cultures: Western abstract expressionism, Chinese Literari free ink style, and Persian calligraphy. I value the simple and yet powerful brush of a single stroke; my intention is to showcase the weight of ink, the purity of colors, the direction of the brush, and the vigor of execution.
The final product has less to do with results, as the focus is on the actions that went into the process of painting. Quite subconsciously, during my work process I found the shape of the letters and words of Persian Calligraphy very close to the theme of the pieces. A common word, or parts of, that appears in many pieces is hasti, which means existence in Farsi.
My other motivation is nature. In nature, design is simple. I like to work in harmony with it. There is no previous sketch, or correction on the final artwork. The final piece must be done correctly on the first run. I respect and welcome accidents into my work. I surrender and flow with and through the process.
