Artist Statement
Time Drift captures a variety of emotions in its abstract form. My focus was to create a world of introspection and imagination. The mirror and water were incorporated together to create the idea of time. In the photograph, the soft details of the water and the colors create a mystery and story that is interpreted in its own way. In this moment, faith became such a narrative.
In my photography, I like working specifically with water and reflections as it creates a minimal, yet captivating feeling. In this particular picture, I used film to capture a mirror sitting along a river on a Colorado summer afternoon. There was a particular sensation to looking at the mirror in the water’s stillness and observing the light being reflected.
This photograph was taken during the summer before leaving for college. It entails a wide range of feelings and a moment hopeful for a new experience.
