Artist Statement
Photographer Brad Perkins has developed and perfected a technique to photograph the “taste” of fine wines. Wine contains many molecular components that greatly affect its color and taste. Although these elements are imperceptible to the naked eye, they can be visualized with the use of sophisticated scientific methods. Fine wines include microscopic crystals that trigger the senses.
When viewed and photographed with a compound polarizing microscope, reveal themselves as colorful, abstract, and magical images of the “invisible” taste of fine wines. This “space-scape” conjures up impressions of “the big bang theory”, with all of creation emanating from a central point. It is the “taste” of New Vogh, a bold red wine from boutique north Georgia winery, Serenity Cellars.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
