Artist Statement
My work reflects my interest in history, memory, and transience. By basing my paintings around collage, most taken from pre-1960’s cultural/fashion magazines and newspapers, I seek not so much to re-contextualize historical imagery, but to de-contextualize it. My work is therefore most successful when its authorial intent is obscured – when “Statement” gives way to inquiry.
