Looking Back
Acrylic Painting
Artist Statement
The emotions felt in the day are closely related to our dreams of water. This piece of artwork titled Looking back brings out the deeper side of our feelings by using water as a subject. Water is formless but when captured for a moment, it left a distinct and printed mark in my mind. It was the memory of a scene on a boat that prompted me to create this piece.
looking back is deliberately painted monochromatic and using thick slabs of acrylic paint. The material properties of paint is exploited to create raw shapes and lines which draws similarities with the turbulence felt in the sea.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
