Amethyst Unveiled

Oil Painting

Artist Statement
My love for flowers has always been much larger than just finding them pretty. Growing up I always surrounded myself with nature and I can remember being so perplexed that plant life continues to thrive through the elements this world places on them. The idea of something growing with love and proper care spoke volumes about what the world needs and what we all need as humans.
In the painting “Amethyst Unveiled”? I began with the inspiration of the Purple Amethyst. Amethyst is not only beautiful but it is known to have legendary powers. I was drawn to the Amethyst’s ability to enhance creativity, center the mind, and purify negativity. I wished to capture this crystals power by having it be the backdrop on which I placed the delicate tulip.
As the tulip began to emerge I wanted to find the perfect balance of the flowers beauty and vulnerability. Through the intertwining movement of the abstraction my wish was to establish that the amethysts power is there to provide an endless protective shield of light around the gentle tulip, which in turn forever captures the flower at its most beautiful state.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas.
