Artist Statement
This photomontage is called Capriccio II. A capriccio is an artwork that involves an architectural fantasy. This piece takes photographs of buildings from above and distills them to formal shapes floating in space. Such a view could never be seen in real life. Among other things, my work involves Classical art and architecture in a postmodern context. My technique involves found images which are carefully cut out and assembled on paper; no computers are used.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
