Black Heart
Oil Painting
Artist Statement
Black Heart is an oil painting that shows my views about the American racism. These black Americans portraits were created in a moment of emotional intensity forming images which refers to a heart. The issue of racism in the United States is much debated and is always present in this complex society. It was one of the first things that caught my attention when I arrived in this country. Unlike Brazil, my native country, black Americans are more active when it comes to issues that related to race gender, as recently noted in Baltimore.
Generally my paintings addresses issues related to political and social behavior in a very particular way. The colors overflowing out of the figures are addressed in peculiar treatment occurring in skin tones by interpretation of light and shadow without changing the profiles of people that is draw to my attention.
