Artist Statement
The series Absentia explores spaces in a state of abandonment and unexpected departure, creating a feeling of being animated and inhabited but absent at the same time. I am interested in the in between period in the life of the house, the transition from one era to another in the lifetime of the place.
The Green Room is no more; the house in Stillwater Minnesota was burnt down used by the Fire Department for a training exercise. This home lost its life and the memories created there ended in ashes. This house is silent, and the life it led exists in a few faded photographs, in the minds of the many families who made it home, and finally in the series Absentia.
