Artist Statement
The surface of the Venus Wedding Cake conjures up notions of filigree decorations on confections. As the shell ages, it adds layers of flaky edges. I am fascinated with that structure and tried to mimic the layering quality with collage. Each layer represents the shell and it’s environment.
