Curves & Lines
Call for Artists Accepted Artists
Bend, Oregon USA
My intention with my abstract “Information Retrieval”? was to use sinuous mosaic laying patterns, a vibrant, energetic color palette, and reflective mirror and glass pieces to convey systems of mechanistic interconnectedness full of motion, rhythm, and movement. This piece transported me to the historic press rooms, with their pneumatic tube canisters, conveyor belts, red lights in the photo dark rooms, and printing machinery when they were a vibrant, energetic, continually flowing part of the ritual of daily life.
I am drawn to linear abstraction because it eliminates details and allows the focus on essential elements. In my art, I use simple lines, curves, angles, and color to define voids and create movement and flow. Guided by intuition and emotional response, I translate these patterns into abstract realities to transport the viewer to other worlds. My contemporary mosaic work is inspired by nature, mathematics, and engineering structure and is a continuous process of exploring and refining a personal abstract language.
