Artist Statement
I worked as a scientist. In the 70s-90s scientific papers were not always available for colleagues in Eastern Europe and under developed countries. Requests for reprints was an option. I have used these stamped cards in a mixed media technique on canvas ‘Letters from the East’ (this is #1 of 4 art works).
Mixed Media technique with among others: sand, paper, stencils and acrylic paint, is for me more challenging, but beneficial, to create an interesting artwork. For the viewer, the variety of media also responds better on the play with light. The post cards do not necessarily originate from the ‘South’, that is relative, obviously.
