Artist Statement
I try to find interesting views of the world around me. I want to make people slow down and take a second look at the world around them. This particular photograph is deeply personal to me. It was taken in my hometown of Lake Wales, Florida and I have always been struck by its simple and hopeful message. There are numerous other tires around Lake Wales with similar messages but this one is my favorite. I have passed by it thousands of times through childhood and adolescence and wanted to share it with the broader world through photography. I have no idea who put this tire or the others on the various fenceposts in the area but I love the idea.
