This papercut illustrates the hierarchy of predators that exists in every environment, from a pond to a jungle. The bold colors, textures, and depth capture what is both beautiful and sinister. The intricate lacework of papers illustrate the fragility and the strength of the paper medium, as well as the fragility and strength of the species who momentarily occupy this environment.
I became interested in papercutting when I realized that so many cultures around the world, ranging from Eastern Europe and China to Mexico, utilize papercutting. My papercutting connects me to this extensive cultural heritage, as well as utilizing papers created in Asian countries where I have traveled.
