Artist Statement
I believe that we have a sacred responsibility to respect and preserve our fragile ecosystem. I find it unconscionable that we have developed technology in the name of energy independence in which large amounts of fluid at high pressure are forced into the shale to release petroleum resources. This process causes chemical contamination of ground water, destruction of vegetation and aquatic life, formation of explosive levels of natural gas, and earthquakes. Fracking does fracture! We must find a different way.
I am a fiber artist that imagines the complexity of our changing earth, forgotten stories of remnant structures and the histories of generations passed. I best express myself by using textiles in a collage of textures, colors and patterns combined with mixed media techniques and ephemera.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
