Artist Statement
While on a tour of a fishing village on the east coast of Mexico, we stopped for a 15 minute visit of a pier where shoppers bought from the early morning catch. This has been a familiar scene from many trips to similar villages but this stop takes your breathe away. The skies seem to be dominated by masts and boats crowded into a world of complex crosses jolted by people, ships and cabins where only your imagination could travel.
I used the editing technique of layering to place masts,cabins and people to accentuate the experience of this overcrowded world.
